In the Land of Eire

The stress level was a little higher than it should be when you're on vacation; however, driving a stick-shift on the wrong side of the road in an unknown country can do that to a girl. Well, I should clarify—I wasn't driving, my father was...but, I'd venture to say that made it worse.

Despite the terror (and the claustrophobic middle seat bestowed upon me by and between my two grown brothers), I think we chose a great way to see Ireland.
Once the entire family made it to Dublin,
we rented aforementioned van and set out for the country side. It's difficult for me to find words that carry the weight of the raw beauty we witnessed over the next six days. It actually reminded me a lot of both Maine and of my father's hometown of Skopelos, Greece. Except even more lush, more shades of green. If ever anything was called "God's Country", I imagine this would be it.

We made our way around a good portion of Southern Ireland, staying at Bed and Breakfasts, exploring castles, trekking through national parks and finding the best spots to enjoy a pint (or several).

I don't think we met one cross Irishman. In fact, nearly every person we met was kind, helpful, funny, and full of Irish sayings to share. Add in their fabulous accents and you really couldn't go wrong. We made friends all along the way.

So many places and experiences are of note, but I thought I'd share just a few that might be of interest if you ever make the trip to the Land of Leprechauns....(coming soon)
