Mickey, Minnie...Meet Maine (and a much older me)

I'm so excited. It reminds me of when I was little and we were headed to Disney. We left in the middle of the night when my dad got home from work, so not to hit traffic on the 8-hour drive. As a special treat, Mom let us stay up all night waiting for dad (now I realize it was a strategic move on her part - the longer we were awake at the house, the longer we slept in the car. Nicely played, Mom).

It was a good thing too, because there was no way I was getting in bed with the magic of Disney World on the other side. And although it isn't Disney, Mickey might as well be here for how excited I am...tomorrow me and my beau go on vacation for the first time in quite some time.

We're headed to his home town in Connecticut for a friend's wedding (We can't wait, Ian!) and then road tripping up the east coast to a tiny town in Maine. What could be better? Friends, family, lobster, cool and quaint coastal towns. Ahhh. My stress melts away just thinking about it...

My mom doesn't have to be here to trick my sleeping habits (fortunately, age and a work week will take care of that), but nonetheless, I feel like a kid again.

Last trip to Maine...This time I think I'll cook the lobster.
